Members of the Cmed management team have occupied senior positions in both pharmaceutical companies and CROs. Their broad range of experience brings Cmed an in-depth understanding of a sponsor's requirements, coupled with an appreciation of what it takes to provide a high quality service.
Chief Executive Officer
David Connelly has almost 20 years' experience in the pharmaceutical and CRO industry in areas including clinical trial design, operations, monitoring, biostatistics and data management. Dr Connelly also has extensive experience of working with top pharmaceutical company executives in process re-engineering, performance and change management, design and deployment of new technology.
Before founding Cmed in early 2000, Dr Connelly was Global Head of Data Management at Novartis. Dr. Connelly has a PhD in Pharmacology and has lived and worked in the UK, Switzerland and the US.
Chief Officer Corporate Business Management
Gareth Hughes has over 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical, consulting and CRO industries. With a background in data management systems and technical support services, Mr Hughes has been a business owner since 1997, when he formed his own consultancy providing technical support and special project services to big pharma clients in Europe (including data management and SAS programming resource). In 2000, the consulting company came together by friendly acquisition to form the consulting division within the Cmed group.
Mr Hughes has held the positions of Director, IT Operations and more recently CEO, Cmed (US).
Chief Technical Officer
Timothy Corbett-Clark has, since 1999, been the leading technical force driving Cmed's cutting edge approach to the development of the Timaeus system. This has given rise to a world class solution which, according to experts at several of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, has unique "bottom line" benefits in today's marketplace.
Dr Corbett-Clark has a first class honours degree in Engineering and Computing Science from the University of Oxford, where he also completed his doctorate. During this time he became expert in many technologies and modern development practises, for example developing sophisticated software for the University research group in the field of statistical pattern recognition.
Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operations Officer (US)
Mark Holt is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and Oxford University (UK) and is a fully registered physician in Great Britain and Western Australia. Dr Holt has ten years of experience in clinical medicine, divided between hospital-based medicine, general practice and surgery.
Whilst practicing medicine he obtained an honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Australia where he developed software to predict warfarin dosing. In his doctoral research he developed software to analyse the anaesthetic electroencephalogram. Following a two-year period as a biomedical software engineer, Dr Holt has spent five years working in the area of electronic data capture.
Chief Operations Officer
Andrew Griffiths has over 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical and CRO industries. Before joining Cmed, Dr Griffiths served as Senior Vice President, Clinical Pharmacology at ICON Clinical Research. At ICON, Dr Griffiths also worked as Vice President, Business Development (Europe) and Head of European Operations. Before joining ICON he held posts in Programme Management and Clinical Research with Boots Pharmaceuticals and Abbott Laboratories respectively.
He has extensive experience of drug development and the design/management/conduct of clinical research in most therapeutic areas in many geographic locations (Europe, US and ROW). Dr Griffiths has a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology and has lived and worked in the UK and US.
